New Music Scoring for "Solstice" has commenced!

I am incredibly excited to announce that new music scoring for "Solstice" has begun, with composer Balint Sapszon taking the helm creating a new orchestral score to help breathe new life into the film for it's 25th anniversary.

Bálint is multi-award winning composer and concert pianist born in Budapest, Hungary and based in California.

Trained at the equally prestigious Béla Bartók Conservatory and Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Bálint holds a Master’s Degree in Composition, Jazz Arrangement and Music Theory. In 2007 he received a Fulbright Scholarship to study Film Scoring abroad and despite a promising career in the European jazz circuit, he moved to Los Angeles. Even while completing the Film Scoring Certificate Program at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), he quickly began establishing himself in the world of film music.

Bálint’s film scoring credits include composing music for: "Walking with the Enemy" featuring the Oscar award-winning actor Ben Kingsley, trailer music for "Zero Theorem" featuring Oscar award- winning Christoph Waltz, and orchestration credits for several movies and TV shows including "Enlisted", a FOX network series. As a jazz composer and arranger, he collaborated with Grammy nominated and award-winning artists including George Duke and Kevin Mahogany.

Bálint has given concerts around the world from Australia, to Hong Kong and mainland China. He has played in some of Europe’s most prestigious concert venues including the Olympia Hall in Paris, the Tonhalle Konzerthaus in Zurich, and the Palace of Arts in Budapest. Within the United States he has performed at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles or the Atherton Concert Hall in Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition to his own performances, his compositions have made the repertoire of many orchestras and choirs internationally.

Bálint has been recognized national and internationally with many accolades. He won 1st prize of the Hungarian Jazz Composition Contest as well as the Contest of Jazz Ensembles and in 2010, Hungarian Ambassador Balázs Bokor appointed him President of the Californian American Hungarian Association of Art.

A sampling of Bálint's talents can be heard at the link below. The new music for "Solstice" will be recorded at Budapest Scoring in Hungary this September and be the final piece put in place for it's 25th Anniversary in December.

Stay tuned for more updates and welcome aboard Balint!
